Sixth Annual VidCon 2015

Back when YouTube star Jenn McAllister, “Jennxpenn”, was still in school, her teacher pulled her aside one day and asked her about her future. After she gave him the answer that she thought he wanted to hear, he told her something that she would never forget. “Do what you love and the money will come.” That message is not only being lived through by Jenn every day, but by many internet stars who are pursuing their dreams by showing the world their true selves on the internet. YouTube has revolutionized the entertainment industry by giving people one of the most cherished gifts of all times as mentioned above, creative freedom. YouTube also provides people the chance to reach an audience not limited by distance; a global scale of potential followers. Entertainers in Paris, France, The U.K., or even Canada can have fans from the United States, Spain, China, anywhere with a media outlet, allowing them to strategize where they should travel later on down the road. Some YouTube artists like Boyce Avenue, the most successful independent band in the world, have toured everywhere imaginable.

YouTube Artists like Gabriella Laberge have captured people's fascination with her diverse talent in vocal abilities and violin skills. She gained a vast amount of attention thanks to The Voice: France, and has continued to post various covers on YouTUbe, including her audition song and even one of her favorite songs of all times, "Zombies" by The Cranberries with an entire orchestra.

Some people even use YouTube to star parody content and post review and other opinion styled videos. One of the most well know parody channels that meets all this criteria is that of "Team Four Star", creators of "Dragon Ball Z Abriged". Here they have recreated the world of Dragon Ball through their own perspectives, highlight all the ups and downs of the series proper. They post ranking lists for varies contexts of the series, and have more frequently been doing film reviews. It's listening to content like this that allows us to broaden our minds and look at content from a whole new perspective that we otherwise would have never even considered.

YouTubers success can all be attributed to consistent posting, keeping the variety high in terms of content, and usually high quality footage. One of YouTube most successful music producers, Kurt Schneider, has ben posting various covers with a multitude of artists on his channel for well over a decade. He always tries to keep his style of videos some-what different, returning to popular themes after a certain amount of time, and blending songs together while recreating them in his image.

YouTube collaborations also allows people to share their followers with one another, helping them to grow their channels even further. Some people's careers have even jump-started after being featured on another YouTuber's channel and have grown an even larger following. Sometimes, all you need is one good video to help take your career off. Some artists like Against The Current & Madilyn Bailey have grown faster than anyone could expect, and they started by working with other YouTube artists and producers like Alex Goot and Jake Coco.

YouTube has not only made it possible for people to be able to share their content with the world, but also make a living through their channels. While the format has changed drastically over the years, people have been able to make money off of their YouTube content, sometimes through sponsored videos. There was a set formula so that people could get a certain amount of money per video view, channel view, and subscriber, but over the years that has changed.

Sometime people can make a substantial amount of money from a single video if that video is sponsored and the topic catches a lot of people's attention. Annie Bardonski of "OhhMyAnnie" posted a video where she tested a Foot Peel Mask, and that video has received over 12 million views. While the reason for the view count skyrocketing might be considered that it attracts.... "unintended interests", it still allows her to continue to do what she loves for a living.

In the end, YouTube has 100% revolutionized the entertainment industry, and put a whole lot more on the emphasis to the phrase "I could never have done this without my fans." So if you're looking to show what makes you different and hope that someone or so many relate to you, give it a shot. Post anything you can think of, no matter how random it might seem. Some people's careers took off with the strangest of videos going viral.
